Terms of Service

By creating an account, signing in, granting Google permissions, or using Spends, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Spends is a personal expense tracking app. It helps you track spending by reading bank and credit card alert emails from Gmail, extracting transaction details, and showing expenses, categories, summaries, and trends in the app.

Spends may also let you manually add spends, create categories, mark credit card bill payments, choose tracked bank or card alert senders, and manage account settings.

To use Spends, you sign in with Google. If you choose to continue, Spends requests access to your Google profile information and Gmail read-only access.

Gmail read-only access allows Spends to read Gmail messages but does not allow Spends to send, edit, or delete emails. Spends uses this access to find and parse bank and credit card alert emails for expense tracking.

You can revoke Spends's Google access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Revoking access may stop Gmail-based expense tracking or require you to sign in again.

You agree to:

• Use Spends only for lawful personal expense tracking purposes.
• Provide accurate information when adding bank or card alert senders, manual spends, categories, or other app data.
• Keep your Google Account and device secure.
• Not use Spends to access another person's email, account, or financial data without permission.
• Not interfere with, reverse engineer, overload, scrape, attack, or abuse the Service.
• Not use Spends for fraud, unlawful surveillance, financial deception, or other harmful activity.

Spends is an expense organization and tracking tool. It is not a bank, lender, broker, tax advisor, accountant, investment advisor, or financial advisor.

Information shown in Spends may be incomplete, delayed, duplicated, incorrectly parsed, incorrectly categorized, or affected by missing bank alerts or email formatting changes. You are responsible for verifying expense information against your bank, credit card, wallet, and official financial records before making financial, tax, accounting, or legal decisions.

Spends does not provide credit decisions, lending decisions, investment recommendations, tax advice, or financial planning advice.

Spends may create transaction records from bank or credit card alert emails and may allow you to create or edit records manually. You are responsible for reviewing the accuracy of those records.

If you enter the last 4 digits of a card or account, you must enter only the last 4 digits. Do not enter full card numbers, CVV, PIN, passwords, OTPs, or other sensitive banking credentials into Spends.

You may log out from the app at any time. Logging out clears local app session data from the device but does not necessarily delete your server-side Spends account data.

You may request account deletion in Settings > Security and Privacy > Delete Account. Account deletion is intended to permanently delete your Spends account data, parsed transactions, tracked senders, categories, refresh tokens, and Gmail-related server data, and to revoke our Google access where supported. You may also revoke access directly from your Google Account permissions page.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of Spends at any time, including features, screens, APIs, parsing rules, categories, or supported bank and card alert formats.

We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or available at all times. Gmail, Google Sign-In, bank alert emails, device operating systems, networks, and backend services may affect whether Spends works correctly.

Spends depends on third-party services, including Google Sign-In, Gmail APIs, mobile operating systems, app stores, hosting providers, and other infrastructure providers. Your use of those services may be governed by separate terms and policies from those providers.

We are not responsible for third-party services, bank email formats, Gmail delivery, Google Account availability, or changes made by banks, card issuers, Google, Apple, or Android.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information. By using Spends, you also agree to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy.

Spends, including its app design, text, graphics, logos, code, and other materials, is owned by Arjun Aghera or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

These Terms do not give you ownership of Spends or any related intellectual property. You receive only a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the app for its intended purpose.

You may not:

• Copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or sublicense the Service.
• Decompile, reverse engineer, or attempt to extract source code except where applicable law allows it.
• Bypass security or access controls.
• Use automated systems to overload or scrape the Service.
• Upload, submit, or transmit unlawful, harmful, misleading, or infringing content.
• Use Spends in a way that violates Google API policies, app store rules, or applicable law.

We may suspend or terminate your access to Spends if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk for the Service or other users, or used the Service unlawfully.

You may stop using Spends at any time and may request account deletion as described above.

Spends is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that Spends will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or suitable for your financial, tax, accounting, or legal needs.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Arjun Aghera and its affiliates, service providers, and personnel will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill, service interruption, or financial decisions made based on Spends.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to Spends will not exceed the amount you paid to use Spends in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or INR 1,000 if you paid nothing.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Arjun Aghera from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your use of Spends, your violation of these Terms, your violation of law, or your violation of another person's rights.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide reasonable notice, such as by updating the date above or notifying you in the app. Your continued use of Spends after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to Arjun Aghera, without regard to conflict of law rules.
